About The Writing Toolbox

The Writing Toolbox is a blog that reflects on life, spirituality, culture, politics and and how these musings can fuel our writing habits.

About Me

Twelve years ago, I started my career as an English teacher. As I made the secondary and post secondary rounds at the beginning of the dot com boom, I discovered Blogger. This new love of technology took me down a new path as an online editor and a web content manager.

My most interesting moment occurred when I interviewed Lt. Col. Oliver North during commercial breaks during his national radio show. And the most forgettable interview was with NBA hall-of-famer David Robinson. I learned a little about making an interview pitch and a lot about interviewing. Why a disaster? I could be wrong, but he sounded upset with me. The biggest interview ever — and I just didn’t prepare well. Call that failing forward.

A new career path

Web technology matured, and I continued writing, editing and keeping a network of websites fresh and up-to-date. I also saw opportunities to expand my technical skill set. For the past few years I’ve focused on the guts of content management systems, information architecture, taxonomy, web strategy and managing people. I love it all.
